  • 1 tsp Ground cloves May add other spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • 1 can Pineapple slices (optional) Add in the last 30 minutes of baking.
For the sides
  • 4 cups Fresh vegetables (carrots, green beans, or your choice) Prepare according to preference.
  • 4 cups Potatoes (mashed or roasted) Prepare as desired.
  • 1 cup Gravy or sauce of choice Serve on the side.
  • 1 loaf Dinner rolls or bread For serving alongside.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Prepare the ham by making shallow cuts in a diamond pattern on the surface.
  3. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, and ground cloves to make a glaze.
  4. Rub the glaze all over the ham and place it in a roasting pan.
Cooking
  1. Cover the ham with foil and bake according to the weight instructions on the package, usually around 15-20 minutes per pound.
  2. If using, add pineapple slices on top in the last 30 minutes of cooking to caramelize.
  3. While the ham is baking, prepare your fresh vegetables by steaming them or roasting them alongside the ham.
  4. Cook the potatoes as desired, making them creamy for mashed or crispy for roasted.
  5. Once the ham is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes before slicing.
Serving
  1. Arrange sliced ham on a large platter. Serve alongside colorful vegetables and potatoes.
  2. Offer gravy or sauces in small bowls for guests to add to their meals.
  3. Don’t forget warm dinner rolls or bread to soak up the delicious flavors!

Notes

Make sure to let the ham rest before slicing to keep juices inside. A meat thermometer can be used to check if the ham is heated through, it should reach an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). You can prepare the glaze a day before and store it in the refrigerator.
