Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
Cooking
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until heated through.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes. Then sprinkle with half of the cheese.
- Add the remaining potatoes, followed by the rest of the cream mixture and cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Scalloped potatoes are best served hot. Pair with roasted meats, grilled chicken, or a simple green salad. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives before serving. You can customize with other vegetables like spinach, broccoli, or mushrooms.
