  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced For the best texture, slice as thinly as possible.
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to add more cheese for an extra cheesy dish.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted for mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
Cooking
  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until heated through.
  3. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes. Then sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  4. Add the remaining potatoes, followed by the rest of the cream mixture and cheese on top.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Scalloped potatoes are best served hot. Pair with roasted meats, grilled chicken, or a simple green salad. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives before serving. You can customize with other vegetables like spinach, broccoli, or mushrooms.
