Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces pork chops
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 piece onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or butter for cooking

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat.
  3. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper. Sear them on both sides until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add onions and garlic. Sauté until translucent.
Layering and Baking
  1. In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, then half of the onions and garlic mixture, followed by half of the cream and cheese.
  2. Place the pork chops on top of the layered mixture.
  3. Top with the remaining potatoes, onions, garlic, cream, and cheese.
  4. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  5. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  6. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Make sure not to skip browning the pork chops for added flavor. For extra creaminess, mix in another half cup of cream or milk. Adding chopped jalapeños or chili flakes can spice things up.
