Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 large ham (bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • Whole cloves (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme, for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Place the ham in a roasting pan, flat side down.
  3. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, honey, and Dijon mustard.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly over the ham.
  5. If you like, insert whole cloves into the ham for added flavor.
Cooking
  1. Cover the ham with foil and bake for about 1.5 to 2 hours, basting it every 30 minutes.
  2. Uncover the ham for the last 30 minutes to let it caramelize.
  3. Once done, take it out of the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
Serving
  1. Garnish with fresh herbs.
  2. After slicing, arrange the pieces on a large platter.
  3. Serve alongside classic sides like mashed potatoes, green beans, or a fresh salad.
  4. Drizzle some of the pan juices over the ham slices for extra flavor.

Notes

Choose a bone-in ham for more flavor and moisture. Basting every 30 minutes enhances flavor and moisture. Allow the ham to rest for better juice distribution before slicing.
